Maker Space Takes Shape
With the introduction of Discovery Days this fall, Mr. Beaulne has been busy building a Maker Space that will allow students to pursue their creative interests in a hands on environment. With the the goal of Discovery Days being to create a rich inquiry and project-based learning framework in which both teachers and students can actively experience personalized learning, as well as giving more time for student interests and goals, this Maker Space is a perfect room for these purposes. The Maker Space is outfitted so far with basic hand tools, a band saw, a belt sander, a 10 inch chop saw, and a 10 inch drill press.
Check out the progression in the gallery above.
The tools have been loaded up, and the room is ready for students to get to work.
If anyone is interested in supporting this space, donations of new or used materials are greatly appreciated. Items the students will use are hand tools, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets, files, rasps, drill bits, sandpaper, chisels, power tools, palm sanders, drills, any cordless tools, screw nails, glue, paint brushes, varnish, stains, lumber, and any supplies for wood working would be put to great use.
